In a historic move for the world of horse racing, Dubai is set to host the inaugural World’s Richest Jockey Competition, bringing together elite riders from across the globe to compete for an unprecedented prize purse of $25 million USD — the largest ever in jockeying history.

Scheduled to take place at the prestigious Meydan Racecourse this December, the competition will feature 20 of the most decorated jockeys from the UK, USA, Japan, Australia, France, South Africa, and more. Each jockey will race in a series of high-stakes events aboard randomly drawn horses, leveling the playing field and emphasizing pure riding skill.

Organized by the Global Equestrian Federation in partnership with the Dubai Racing Club, the event aims to elevate the profile of jockeys, who are often overshadowed by the fame of the horses and trainers. The winner of the competition will walk away with a record-setting first prize of $10 million, while substantial purses will be awarded to all finalists.

“The World’s Richest Jockey Competition isn’t just about the money,” said Ahmed Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Dubai Racing Club. “It’s a celebration of the athleticism, strategy, and courage these world-class athletes bring to the sport.”

Fan engagement is expected to be huge, with global broadcast rights secured by major networks and a dedicated app allowing viewers to vote, interact, and track stats in real time. Horse racing analysts believe this event could transform public perception of jockeys and set a new benchmark for professional recognition in the sport.

Confirmed Riders Include:

  • Frankie Dettori (UK) – Multiple Group 1 winner and racing legend
  • Yuga Kawada (Japan) – 2023 Japan Cup-winning jockey
  • Flavien Prat (USA) – Renowned for consistent performance on major U.S. tracks
  • Jamie Kah (Australia) – Record-breaking female jockey
  • Christophe Soumillon (France) – Two-time Arc de Triomphe winner

Ticket sales and media credentials will open next week, with the final race scheduled for December 14, 2025. Fans and bettors alike are preparing for what’s being called “The Race of Legends.”
