The global startup economy continues to grow rapidly in 2026, with several countries creating strong environments for entrepreneurs, technology companies and investors. According to the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026, the United States remains the world leader, supported by its huge venture-capital market, technology companies, universities and global investors. Excluding Israel, the ranking considered here is: 1. United States, 2. United Kingdom, 3. Singapore, 4. Canada, 5. Sweden, 6. Germany, 7. Switzerland, 8. Australia, 9. Netherlands and 10. France. These countries offer some of the strongest combinations of startup activity, investment, talent and business infrastructure.
The United Kingdom remains Europe’s leading startup ecosystem, while Singapore has emerged as one of the fastest-growing global startup hubs. Singapore recorded 24.4% annual ecosystem growth in the 2026 index, strengthening its position as an important gateway for Asian startups. Canada continues to attract technology entrepreneurs, while Sweden has developed a strong innovation culture despite its relatively small population. Germany and Switzerland provide startups with access to advanced research, engineering expertise, investors and established industries. Australia has also moved higher in the global ranking, reflecting increasing startup activity and ecosystem development.
For founders searching for funding, however, no country can guarantee “easy money.” Strong startup ecosystems simply improve access to venture capital, accelerators, government programs, skilled employees, customers and international networks. The United States remains far ahead, with an estimated startup ecosystem value of about $9.1 trillion, followed by major innovation economies across Europe and Asia-Pacific. France, although ranked 11th globally in the official 2026 index, enters this top-10 selection because Israel has been excluded. For ambitious entrepreneurs, these countries remain attractive destinations for building innovative companies, raising capital and expanding internationally.
