In a significant development ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly decided not to send its national team to India. This decision comes shortly after Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was revoked from his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

According to officials close to the matter, the BCB expressed serious concerns over player treatment and management following Mustafizur Rahman’s sudden exclusion from the KKR squad while he was in India. The left-arm pacer, one of Bangladesh’s most experienced T20 bowlers, had joined KKR with high expectations but was later released due to team combination and strategic reasons.

The incident has reportedly strained relations between the BCB and Indian cricket authorities. BCB officials believe the revocation reflected poorly on the safety, respect, and professional assurance of Bangladeshi players participating in Indian leagues. As a result, the board reassessed its stance on sending the national side to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup fixtures.

A senior BCB official stated that player dignity and national interest remain top priorities for the board. While the decision is being described as precautionary rather than confrontational, it has sparked discussions within the cricketing community about cross-border league participation and international cooperation.

The ICC has not yet issued an official response, and it remains unclear whether alternative arrangements or neutral venues will be considered if the situation escalates. Fans in both countries have reacted strongly on social media, with mixed opinions on the BCB’s move.

As preparations for the T20 World Cup continue, this development adds a new layer of uncertainty to the tournament’s logistics and team participation. Further discussions between the BCB, BCCI, and ICC are expected in the coming days to seek clarity and possible resolution.
